Hanna Attafi

Hanna Attafi is a Charleston native, longtime yogi, and former Charleston County School District third grade teacher. She is a certified yoga teacher (YTT) and has completed the Mindful Schools Mindful Educator Essentials course & currently studying Yoga Therapy. In addition to creating and leading Pathways for Presence workshops, she teaches yoga classes and runs retreats locally and internationally.
In her graduate research, where she studied education advocacy, Hanna facilitated mindfulness workshops for preservice teachers at the College of Charleston and correlated breathwork and other mindfulness practices to positive outcomes. These included reduced stress and a more positive outlook on entering the profession of teaching.
This research, combined with her own classroom experience and knowledge as a yoga & meditation teacher, sparked the creation of our workshops. Hanna's workshops are designed especially for teachers, as she is passionate about supporting educators who highly need and benefit from learning about this form of mental health support & self care.
Hanna runs her workshops virtually in order to reach more teachers with accessibility and flexibility. The online workshop model has not only shown to provide more than enough connect & support but also creates a safe space for participants to practice where they are comfortable. Workshops are available in person, based on a schools' request, needs & budget.

6 hour workshop series
In this workshop series (6 hours) we will have plenty of time to ground our work in an overview of current neuroscience research about how stress & trauma impacts the brain, and how mindfulness practice can support in coping. We will learn and practice explicit, easy-to-integrate strategies to create mindful pathways over a period of weeks, allowing for more permanent pathways. With plenty of time for you (as educators) to learn and practice on your own, we will then touch on some simple strategies to share with students. We will discuss how second-hand trauma impacts you & how to teach your students mindfulness with trauma-sensitivity. This workshop also includes a lifetime access to a large, customized resource library so that each participant can continue to practice independently & share with students.
